10 oz Currants

8 oz raisins

3 oz sultanas

3 oz cherries

20 oz almonds (chopped)

20 oz ground almonds

2 1/2 oz mixed peel

6 oz soft brown sugar

5 oz butter

7 oz plain flour

1 tablespoon black treacle

Rind of 1 orange and lemon

1 teaspoon mixed spice

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

4 eggs



  1.    Beat all ingredients together with wooden spoon.  Place in tin, smoothing down with a wet metal spoon.

2.    Pour mixture into an 8 inch round cake tin.  Place in the middle of oven.

3.    Bake for 3 hours at 300 F degrees.  Leave in tin for 15 minutes.  Place on a wire rack.
